A lot of philosophy also points towards something similar. True joy can be attained by becoming a part of something bigger than yourself.
There are literally hundreds of such opportunities that an ordinary person can encounter as they go about their day. It’s just that most people are almost always so preoccupied by their problems that they never realise these opportunities pass them by. They don’t live with intent.
I am a busy lawyer, writer, and home carer. I invest substantial amount of time in providing mental health counseling for free; giving pro bono legal advice; and generally helping the poor. I feel perfectly happy with my life.
It’s astounding: that last sentence.
