Absolutely. What levelled advice.

Murakami lovers would understand this. He never brings in inner monologue to explains the actions of his characters. Rather, inner monologue is used to express a secret state of mind, something that can never be told to anyone.

Even Sally Rooney has done this with her protagonist in Conversations with Friends. When random stuff happens suddenly, it's so much more intriguing to describe it like a script (i.e. without going into the inner world). Because in real life, when something shocking happens, we don't react in the moment. We go numb, experience the event, and ponder over it later at a private moment.
