God knows we needed to hear this. There is so much chatter everywhere (including Medium) on "How I Made XYZ $ from 10 articles" etc.

You read one post out of curioisty. Suddenly, the algo floods your feed with such posts, and there is no derth of them. Two things happen.

1. Suddenly, Medium starts appearing as a Ponzi Scheme too.

2. It kills a 'reader's' interest in their feed. Where is all that interesting, diverse content promised to me when I subscribed?
