Good article.

It's a culture of ingratitude. Women are criticised no matter what their skin colour is.

Its not until we become adults that we realise that nobody taught us to be grateful for what we've got. Or even, the imporant things in life are. Health, family, friends, and love. The society is just hell bent on approaching everything from the mindset of scarcity.

That's why the cutting remarks. As for me, I've lived my entire life with, "You're not as fair as your mother." or "It's okay. You're wheatish. You're not DARK."

Further extensions ares, "But you're pretty. Why don't you smile more?" "You have a good figure. Why don't you dress up more?"

Ingratitude. And a mindset of scarcity.
