A writer writes at the most crucial times.

And the start of a year, though immaterial in the Universe’s scheme, is a crucial time.

Here’s what transpired in my meeting with my journal.

  1. Special or ordinary are labels. The more attached you are to special times, the more you suffer. Moments turn special when you accept them without labels. Accept the ordinary.
  2. Large realisations slide into life like the bottom of icebergs. Invisible and unseeable. It’s all happening within. Live your change.
  3. All things real are un-repeatable. Like the sombre note of a cello, it can only be heard but not told. Not uttered by words, not described, not repeated. Only experienced. Be present now.
  4. The only way to a better life is through being a better person. Just go on.
  5. All wins are wins. Big, small, medium — that’s your ego.
  6. Don’t waste energy to byepass hurt. Pain has purpose. Find your purpose.
  7. Life is too long and too wide to lose sight of the long term. Always choose equanimity.
  8. The body is a medium through which you experience and express life. Be very kind.
