You've got a fair point. I think Medium has noticed this too and is trying to change this.

Like, I never earned over 2 USD on Medium. But they've entered me in the Creative Writer's Challenge Aug- Oct 2020.

You can see my profile and tell that my writing does not contain the standard medium writer's language. I can't do that because that means losing my own essence.
